In the latest development, India has become the second-most hit country globally by the Covid-19 pandemic. The country reported a record 1,68,912 Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, which is the highest ever daily surge till now. This is the sixth time in a row that the country witnessed a rise in daily fresh Covid infections.
India‘s coronavirus tally is now over 13.53 million and is the second-highest globally, behind the United States and just ahead of Brazil’s. The United States tops the global tally with 31.2 million cases.
The South Asian country also reported 904 fatalities because of the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll in India to 1,70,179.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state in the country, with 63,294 fresh cases and 349 deaths in the last 24 hours.
