The President of India Ram Nath Kovind today appointed Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana as the 48th Chief Justice of India.
The incumbent Chief Justice of India Justice SA Bobde’s due to retire is on April 23, and last month he had recommended Justice NV Ramana as his successor.
As per reports, Justice NV Ramana will take an oath on April 24. He will be in office until August 26, 2022.
Born on August 27, 1957, in Ponnavaram village of Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district, Justice Ramana was enrolled as an advocate on February 10, 1983. He will be the second Chief Justice of India from AP.
