Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera on Sunday achieved a rare record. He became the first Sri Lankan to hit six sixes in an over in any form of professional cricket during a domestic tournament.
Perera represented the Sri Lanka Army and Sports Club as part of Sri Lanka List A cricket. He completed his half-century (52 off 13 balls). The left-handed batsman came in to bat at No. 5 with 20 balls remaining and took on part-time off-spinner Dilhan Cooray to bag this record
It was the second-fastest half-century in List A cricket and the fastest half-century record held by Sri Lankan all-rounder Kaushalya Weeraratne.
Notably, Perera is the second cricketer, after West Indies T20I captain Kieron Pollard, to achieve this feat in 2021.
The Sri Lankan all-rounder is the ninth cricketer in the world to have achieved this feat in professional cricket, after Garfield Sobers, Ravi Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, Ross Whiteley, Hazratullah Zazai, Leo Carter, and recently Kieron Pollard.
