SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh has given yet another shocker to the ruling YSRCP government, by issuing orders against the forcible withdrawal of candidates from nominating their names for the municipal elections.
A lot of complaints were received by the SEC, regarding the forcible withdrawal of nominations, with people belonging to the YSRCP threatening anyone filing nominations against the ruling party. This forced the SEC to take serious action against those threatening anyone filing nominations against the YSRCP.
Nimmagadda said that the returning officers should refuse to accept the withdrawal of a candidate if he is suspected to be withdrawing his candidature due to someone threatening him to withdraw his candidature.
The returning officers can also take complaints against those who are threatening the candidates and announce the candidature of the person. Additionally, the High Court declared on Tuesday that the counting of votes should be videographed, to avoid any discrepancies during the elections.
A lot of complaints were lodged during the elections, about the rigging of votes, especially on the ruling party.
