Prime Minister Narendra Modi Today got emotional in Parliament as Rajya Sabha bid farewell to Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad. Bidding farewell to four outgoing members of the upper house, Modi heaped praises on Ghulam Nabi Azad and teared up while reminiscing an instance when his rival politician served as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

“As a leader of the opposition, it’s easy to engage in party politics, but Ghulam Nabi Azad Ji rose above this and always prioritised the prosperity of the country first,” PM Modi said.

“During the pandemic, Azad proposed to call an all-party meet to fight the crisis as one nation,” the PM added.

Hailing the Congress leader’s legacy and his contribution as Rajya Sabha MP, the Modi said, “The person who will replace Ghulam Nabi Ji (as Leader of Opposition) will have difficulty matching his work because he was not only concerned about his party but also about the country and the House.”
