This year’s US Presidential elections are prestigious for a lot of reasons, and a lot has happened over the past few weeks leading up to the election. Today, billions of votes are going to be cast by Americans, choosing their next President.

The Trump administration has been the most controversial administration the US has witnessed in a really long time, and the global pandemic of Coronavirus has only made things a lot worse for the Trump administration. People from all over the country started criticising him for his lack of action against the virus, and his lack of sensitivity and understanding of it either. Despite the virus, Trump continued to conduct in rallies stuffed with people, and proactively criticised Joe Biden for always wearing a mask. This has been called out by a lot of people, who called Trump out for his senseless remarks and lack of responsibility towards his own health and the health of those who take part in his rallies.

On the other hand, the first Presidential Debate turned out to be totally different from anything anyone has ever seen before. Trump neither let Joe Biden speak, nor the moderator, Chris Wallace speak. This debate drew a lot of attention, and became unintentionally funny for audiences everywhere. Following the first debate, Trump tested positive for Coronavirus, and got back to the White House within 48 hours of his admission to the hospital. As a result, the 2nd Presidential Debate was planned to be conducted virtually, but both the Presidential candidates expressed disinterest. During the 3rd debate, a mute button was introduced, where the mic of the person not speaking would be muted while the other spoke, as Trump kept on interrupting in the 1st debate.

Keeping in mind that the pandemic has not eased the slightest bit in the US, citizens have had the option to send in their votes early on, through mail as well. The rest of the people who haven’t voted, will be voting on November 3rd. All predictions point towards Biden being the next President of the United States, which would make him the oldest person to ever assume office, at age 78. This would make Kamala Harris the first female Vice President of the United States, and also the first person of African American and Indian origin to become the VP. Interestingly, the 2020 elections are also the costliest elections in the history of America, considering that nearly $14 billion have been spent on campaigning.

While Biden continues to have the edge over Trump in these elections, predictions say that Trump still has a chance of 10% to win the elections and be re-elected as the President.

It usually takes 4 weeks for the results to be announced, and in some rare cases, a little more. The results of the Presidential elections are currently expected to be announced in the first week of December. The new President would assume office from January 2021.

Today’s updates so far:

Both the presidential candidates have expressed total belief in winning these elections, today. Joe Biden visited a Church in his hometown of Scranton today, along with his wife Jill, and encouraged everyone to vote for a ‘New America’.

On the other hand, President Trump too said that he is very confident of winning these elections, on a telephonic interview with Fox News. Trump said, “We feel very good. I think we’ll have victory.” He also said, “We think we are winning Texas very big. We think we are winning Florida very big. We think we are winning Arizona very big,” and added, “I think we are going to do very well in North Carolina. I think we are going to do well in Pennsylvania. We think we are doing very well everywhere.”

A huge turnover of voters is also expected this year, despite the pandemic claiming the lives of millions of Americans. Millions of votes in the form of mail are coming in from all of the states, and so far, more than 2.5 million votes have flown in. First Lady Melania Trump cast her in-person vote at the Morton and Barbara Mandel Recreation Center in Palm Beach.

All the concerned Federal Authorities have also reported no problems or any sort of disturbances in the elections so far.
