Legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan’s biopic ‘800’ will be released in cinemas in October. Movie Train Motion Pictures and director MS Sripathy today unveiled its trailer in the presence of Bharat’s pride Sachin Tendulkar.
‘Slumdog Millionaire’ fame Madhur Mittal has slipped into the lead role so well. He is absolutely natural. The visuals are authentic. One hopes the film will live up to the standards the trailer makes us believe it possesses.
The trailer gets into the groove as soon as it opens to the visuals of Muralitharan entering a sprawling stadium. The chequered history of Sri Lanka and the troubled career of the bowler (the chucking row was a major upheaval) have been detailed in good measure. In a scene, we see Muralitharan arguing with the leaders of a militant Tamil group who waged a war against the state for decades. The atrocities committed on the Tamil minority affected Muralitharan.
Senior Tollywood producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad recently acquired the all-India theatrical rights for Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and English languages.
Extensively shot in Sri Lanka, England, Australia, Kochin, Chandigarh and Chennai on a lavish budget, the film has music by Ghibran. Nassar will be seen in a full-fledged role.
