Six Maoists were killed in a shootout between Greyhounds and Maoists this morning at Thigametta in the Koyyuru zone on the Visakhapatnam-East Godavari border. Police forces say that being a densely forested area, there has been a delay in collecting details of how many Maoists died and how many were injured.
According to the reports, many Naxals and police were injured during the firing. It is reported that police seized a large number of weapons like AK-47 and ammunition from the spot. It is being heard that the police department is sending additional forces to the spot. Police are patrolling the forest area following reports that top Maoist leaders have escaped.
