Union Health Minister Harshavardhan recently had a virtual meeting with the Group of Ministers (GoM) to discuss the situation of corona in the country. The meeting was attended by several ministers and a member of the NITI Aayog (Health).
Speaking on the occasion, Harshavardhan said that 1.34 percent (4,88,861) of the total corona patients in the country were being treated in the ICU while 0.39 percent (1,70,841) were on ventilators. 3.70 percent (9,02,291) of total corona victims were being treated with the support of oxygen.
The medical oxygen production needs to be increased to 9,400 metric tonnes, the health minister said. The ministers of the respective departments discussed the infrastructure in hospitals, production, and supply of medical oxygen.
