In a statement, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam said that it had nothing to do with the 120 bags of hair seized by police at the Myanmar border near Mizoram. It is reported that 120 bags of hair from TTD was being smuggled to the world’s largest wigs producer, China.
TTD sells the hair of devotees through international tenders. GST will be deducted from the highest bidder in the tender. Does the purchased bidder have international export clearances? Or where it is sold in the country is not a matter for TTD.
Many temples in the country sell the hair of devotees in the same way. TTD also sells the hair through this tender every three months. This is a process that usually happens.
