Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy recently came to the defence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, when Jharkhand’s Chief Minister posted a snide Tweet, mocking the PM. Jagan’s tweet, defending the PM has gone viral on social media ever since, with both the people and political circles all around the country, looking at Jagan in a new light.
It is very well known that a popular newspaper daily in Andhra Pradesh is affiliated with Jagan Mohan Reddy, and mostly runs based on two laws – 1. That it needs to cover even the most trivial thing that CM Jagan does, and 2. That it needs to tear down anyone and everyone who goes against the CM. While the newspaper daily seems to be succeeding in the second point without a doubt, it seems to be faltering in the first point, very frequently.
As a newspaper that’s dedicated to stating and listing out every good deed done by the YSRCP government, it is the newspaper’s basic responsibility to have covered Jagan’s tweet. However, it has failed miserably in doing that. The newspaper should have grabbed the opportunity to explain Jagan’s reason behind defending the PM and used it to their advantage. But, they chose to completely ignore its existence.
The Editorial section could have thought that the Tweet wouldn’t age well, which is why it must have applied the kill strategy. No matter how the Tweet will age, it would have been the right thing for the newspaper to defend the AP CM. Whatever the reason was behind Sakshi’s kill strategy, when it came to covering this Tweet, it is sure to do a lot more harm than good.
