It seems like the YSRCP is repeating the same mistake the TDP did 5 years back. When TDP won in 2014 general elections it is an open secret that the social media wing of TDP did put enormous efforts. This strategy of CBN influenced the YSR Congress party to invest more on the social media wing of their prowess and of course, what Prashant Kishor did bring to Jagan’s team is just an impeccable contribution to secure a landslide victory.
Now, there are reports that the YSRCP biggies did neglect the social media team and are operating the ground level politics without caring much about the public pulse and the dissatisfaction that is present in the public with some hasty decisions taken by the AP government. Be it capital issue, pension promises, repeated jolts from the High Court, irked the public more than they can tolerate.
In the pre-poll period of the 2019 elections, the YSRCP social media team did support Jagan big time and targeted Nara Lokesh and the last minute schemes introduced by the former AP CM Chandra Babu Naidu. The TDP people found it very difficult to restrict the YSRCP in their own sector. That’s the pressure they generated on the then government.
That is why it is known that many people who were active in favor of the YCP or against Chandrababu, Lokesh and the TDP were arrested by the police at that time. No matter how many cases are filed or arrested, the YCP social media department has not backed down. Everyone is aware of their efforts working on behalf of the social media department in highlighting Jagan in the later 2019 elections.
The social media department that had worked hard for the party for almost ten years when the YCP came to power with a solid victory and everyone thought that the party elders would recognize them. Many would have thought that they would adjust themselves to positions that would replace them at some level in government. In other words, if there were no Sarpanch, Councillor, MPTC and ZPTC positions on behalf of the party, they would have been given the opportunity to become directors in corporations.
But, nothing happened as expected as of now. In fact millions have worked on behalf of social media. No one can adjust the positions of all those who have worked hard for the party. But there is nothing wrong with wanting recognition because they have worked hard. The social media activists would like to bring this matter to the attention of Jagan. When will Mari Jagan make an appointment? It remains to be seen how this dissatisfaction will diminish the party cadre if this issue goes the other way around.
