Vinesh Phogat, who won many medals for India in Wrestling, has been suspended by the Wrestling Federation of India for indiscipline during her Tokyo Olympics crusade.
The star grappler was temporarily suspended, and the authority has given a notice to Phogat on three counts, and she has time until August 16 to answer the notice.
As per reports, the reasons for her suspension are that she refused to stay with the Indian team (during the Tokyo Olympics). She also refused to train with the Indian team, WFI president Brij Bhushan Singh said.
Another charge against her is that the Indian Olympic Association singlet, which is approved, was not worn by her. She rather wore her sponsor, Nike’s singlet. She was not supposed to wear that, and this is termed as gross indiscipline.
Vinesh Phogat has been suspended temporarily and banned from all wrestling activities. She can’t contest in any national or other domestic events until she files a counter and till the authority takes a final decision.
