India’s largest slum area, Dharavi in Mumbai, proved to the world that with self discipline one can reduce the impact of Corona Virus. When few Covid-19 cases popped up in Dharavi, the entire world started looking into it as the hygiene levels are little low in the region and there is a high chance for a massive outbreak from the region.

Interestingly, the people of Dharavi practiced social distancing and the Indian Government supported the region with regular checkups and quarantine facilities. Currently the cases in this region were confined to 166 and the situation is under control. WHO praised Dharavi for its sincere effort to reduce the cases.

Other Indian states where the Covid-19 cases were raising immensely, should learn from Dharavi. Not just in this case, Dharavi has proved itself in various occasions. The kids from this slum area won America’s Got Talent season 15 and their talent is impeccable. Some of the world’s largest brands in leather and textile industries get their initial goods from Dharavi. Even though it is a slum area, the region does a business of over $1billion every year.
