Sai Dharam Tej is coming up with a content-packed film, Virupaksha which is getting a pan-Indian release on the 21st of April. As a part of the promotional campaign, the theatrical trailer was unveiled a little while ago.
The trailer establishes the premise of Virupaksha as we are transported to the world of a rural setting in Andhra Pradesh. A cursed village where supernatural forces torment the locals and there’s nothing but pain and suffering.
Sai Dharam Tej is introduced as the savior and he is destined to save the village and the locals, while he also fights for the wellbeing of his lady love, Samyuktha Menon who is also tormented by supernatural forces.
The BGM and the visuals are of top-tier quality in the trailer and they set the visual optic pretty well. There’s a great deal of visual brilliance, be it the rustic shots and the paranormal shots, comprising VFX and CGI.
That said, we get a feeling that the trailer gets disjointed towards the end with fast-cut visuals tampering with the flow. There’s more focus on visual surprise than presenting the core plot and premise.
Also, films like these will need to have tightly packed narration and there’s no scope for slowed-down scenes. This will be another major challenge.
The film is directed by Karthik Dandu while Sukumar has provided the screenplay. As mentioned, the film is releasing on the 21st of April.
