A US court has recently issued key directives on the issuance of H-4 visas to spouses of H-1B visa holders to work in the United States. The court directed the concerned departments to submit a joint report on the prospects of work authorisation for H4 visas.
The court is reportedly seeking a report in the wake of Joe Biden’s recent directive to withdraw decisions on H-4 visas during the reign of former President Donald Trump. Judge Tanya S Chutkan has asked for the joint status report by March 5.
We are aware that H-4 visas are issued by USCIS to immediate family members of the H-1B visa holders. It is reported that the spouses of Indian professionals are high on this list.
The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows the companies in the US to hire foreign employees in speciality occupations that involve technical or theoretical expertise. Most of the technology companies depend on H-1B visas to employ tens of thousands of workers each year from countries like India and China.
