Directed by debutant Buchi Babu Sana, Uppena starring newcomers Panja Vaishnav Tej and Krithi Shetty, released on 12th February, is doing well at the box office. The film is scoring excellent reviews and turned out as a hit at the box office.
As per trade reports, Uppena is the highest-earning debut movie of Tollywood in the 21st century. The movie has got a good collection on the first day of its release itself. The same continued on the 2nd day. On the third day, however, it collected more than the first day in some areas and set another record.
Releasing in over 1000 theatres worldwide, youngsters in Telugu states thronged to watch Uppena as there were no other releases lately. The film got a share of Rs 9.17 crores on the first day in AP and Telangana. On the second day, it managed a share of Rs 6.86 crores across the Telugu states.

Uppena not only crossed the break-even mark in three days but also went into the profit zone of Rs 4 crore and created a record. Vaishnav Tej also joined the list of heroes who achieved 8.2 crore shares on the third day. So far, only Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, NTR, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun and Chiranjeevi have crossed the 8 crore mark on the third day, and now Vaishnav Tej has joined them.
