An adverse effect from Immunisation (AEFI) in a 46-year-old ward boy belonging to a district hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad came to light today morning. Reportedly he died within 24 hours after receiving the covid-19 vaccine.
The ward boy, identified as Mahipal Singh, complained of breathlessness and difficulty in the chest soon after getting a dose of Serum Institute of India’s Covishield vaccine.
However, the district’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO) has refuted the death allegations and iterated that it is unrelated to vaccination.
Ward Boy Mahipal Singh passed away after complaining of nasal congestion, chest pain and breathlessness. According to his family’s confession, he had been ill before the shot.
“He was vaccinated on Saturday around noon. On Sunday he felt breathless and complained of chest congestion. We are inquiring into the reasons of the death. We will get a post mortem done. It does not seem to be a reaction to vaccination. He did night duty on Saturday too and there were no issues,” MC Garg, Moradabad’s chief medical officer, asserted late last night.
