Electing Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari as the Mayor of Visakhapatnam has caused a stir in the party leaders of Vizag. YSRCP leader Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav hoped for the Mayor post, but the party leadership reserved it for Backward Classes (general) and therefore appointed Hari Venkata Kumari.
Meanwhile, supporters of Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav protested against the decision of electing Venkata Kumari as the new Mayor of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).
While speaking to the media, the unhappy leader said that he was unlucky in politics. Srinivas Yadav is likely to meet AP CM YS Jagan and will take a call on continuing as a corporator or not. There are speculations that some leaders from his own party became troublemakers for him. It is also heard that Mr Yadav has decided to resign for the party city president post in order to protest against the YSRCP.
YSR Congress proposed the names of Venkata Hari Kumari as mayor and Mr. Sridhar as deputy mayor. Hari Venkata Kumari is elected from Ward 11 (Zone II) and she will be the second woman mayor of the coastal city after Prof. Rajana Ramani.
