Maharashtra politics has witnessed some strange turns for the past one week. After Devendra Fadnavis has dropped down from the post of Chief Minister, now Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray took oath as the new CM of Maharashtra. The swearing in ceremony took place on Thursday evening in Mumbai’s Shivaji park. Governor BD Koshyari will administer oath to Uddhav.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, DMK chief MK Stalin, Congress leader Ahmed Patel, NCP leader Praful Patel and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis are few among the prominent leaders who attended the ceremony.
NCP leader Jayant Patil has confirmed that the first cabinet meeting of Uddhav’s government will be around 8 pm. Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP alliance has released its common minimum program (CMP), despite the disagreement over the inclusion of the term “secular” in the document, the alliance promised to uphold the secular values as enshrined in the Constitution.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi through his twitter account has congratulated Uddhav Thackeray upon taking oath. The tweet reads, “Congratulations to Uddhav Thackeray Ji on taking oath as the CM of Maharashtra. I am confident he will work diligently for the bright future of Maharashtra.”
