Former India skipper and wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni lost the blue tick on his Twitter account on August 6. This created a major buzz online, and fans were angry with the platform. However, the blue tick was later attached back to his profile.
The blue tick is a verification symbol on Twitter, and they normally give it to individuals or organisations to separate the original account from others. Only verified Twitter handles get blue ticks on their profile.
As per the reports, the accounts will lose the blue tick when they remain inactive for a longer period. The Chennai Super Kings captain is not an avid social media user and hardly posts anything, despite having millions of followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The two-time world cup winning captain has 8.2 million followers on the micro-blogging site, over 26 million on Facebook and 34.5 million on Instagram. His last tweet was on January 8 this year.
