It is a known fact the Covid-19 pandemic has hit that theatrical business across the world. Although the effect of the virus reduced, for now, the theatrical business has not yet recovered after suffering a massive blow from the pandemic.
Amid unfavourable conditions to release the films on the big screens, many small and medium budget films are taking the OTT way to avoid losses.
Nani’s upcoming film, Tuck Jagadish, is also on the same list, which is opting for a direct-OTT release. However, the exhibitors are not happy with producers selling their films to OTTs despite supporting theatres. In fact, Nani is also unhappy with the OTT release, but he left the choice to producers.
Amazon Prime Video will premiere ‘Tuck Jagadish’ on 10th September as Vinayaka Chaviti special while Disney+Hot star will premiere Nithin starrer ‘Maestro’ on the same date. But the exhibitors are said to be opposing the OTT releases as ‘Love Story’ featuring Naga Chaitanya has announced its theatrical release date as September 10.
The producer of Love Story as well as the exhibitors fear that OTT releases may hinder their prospects at the theatrical window. However, it remains to be seen what happens on September 10.
