Faction had been a part and parcel of politics from the beginning in Andhra Pradesh State. The primal reason for this is the Rayalaseema and Vijayawada areas that are mostly associated with faction and rowdyism.
Especially around the Election season the heat of the campaigning leads to more attacks. While the Nation and States are going towards a progress, seems like many aspects of politics in India still revolve around rival faction.
Today’s brutal attack on a TRS part member in the event of elections have again reminded us of the reality in regional politics.
Especially in the constituency of Suryapet, faction and rivalry is the de-facto supremo. Democracy is almost only a joke in these areas. Suryapet’s Yarkaram Mandal had witnessed a gruesome attack.
The Village’s ex-Sarpanch and TRS leader Ontedhu Venkanna has been murdered on Friday night. While he was participating in the arrangements of the Election polling, he was interacting with the party members.
That is when he was attacked by his rivals with an axe and talwars. Though Venkanna had run for a distance and hid inside a house, the attackers had broken the doors and killed him.
TRS members accuse that it is the act of Congress members. This incident has reminded people of both Telugu States of the YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder just around the elections in 2019.
