It is known that, with the cases of COVID-19 in West Bengal crossing the 15,000 mark, the West Bengal government extended the lockdown in the state till 31 July. This is such a crucial decision took by Mamta Banerjee and now it seems the time is up for the two Telugu states to follow Didi.
If we take a peek at the latest health bulletins of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the spike is not at all going down and the condition of looks grim from day to day. In Telangana, in the last 24 hours, 920 new cases were registered which is about a 100% increase in the daily number of cases when compared to the first week of this month.
In Andhra Pradesh, the situation started to turn worse as 573 cases were registered in the last 24 hours which is its continuous highest daily spike over a week and it includes 7 deaths too. Astonishingly, as the Telangana government eventually increased the COVID-19 confirmatory tests number in the last two weeks, the positivity rate has increased to 15.5% which is just ridiculous.
Now, the entire Telangana state including Hyderabad won’t have any tests in the coming 2 days. So, the people feel that there is a dire need to implement complete lockdown in these two states at the earliest. As the recovery rate is encouraging, at least a month of complete lockdown might turn the tables for the greater good.
