Mass hero Ravi Teja starrer pan-India project, Tiger Nageswara Rao has created curiosity among the audience with its intresting promos. Co-starring Nupur Sanon and Gayathri Bharadwaj as the female leads, the film also stars noted actress Renu Desai and Anupam Kher in a key roles has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story:

Set in early 80s time period, the film revolves around the story of a notorious thief named Nageshwara Rao who is famous for his robberies in Stuartpuram region. At this point of time, cops start hunt for Nageshwara Rao and puts him behind the bars. Later, after witnessing torture from the department, Nageshwara Rao releases from jail and emerges as Tiger Nageswara Rao. What is the prime reason behind Nageswara Rao’s massive transformation as Tiger Nageswara Rao? How he later becomes famous nationwide with his kind of robberies, forms crucial crux.

On -Screen performances:

As usual, Ravi Teja is subtle in emotional scenes and energetic in action sequences . Be it action scenes or his performance in the given weightage role, Ravi Teja did a superb job in the performance oriented role.

Heroines Nupur Sanon and Gayathri Bharadwaj are cute on screen and gave an impressive performance in their given limited yet key roles. Nazar is good enough in his given thief role. Jisshu Sengupta did a good job in a rough cop role. Folks that acted as Ravi Teja’s gang acted well. Harersh Paradi did adequate justice in the Yellamanda role.

Renu Desai is impressive too in his given special role. Anupama Kher is okay in his given key role. Other artists are decent enough in their given limited roles.

Off- screen talents:

Cinematography provided by Madhie is top notch as his lavish framing is visible on the screen throughout the movie.

Ram-Laxman stunts are engaging and nicely incorporated into the plotline. Music composer by GV Prakash Kumar is soothing. His background score is arresting and apt to the proceedings.

Coming to direction department, young director Vamsee did a fine work as the film is his high-budget film,to date. His work is visible on the screen. Writing department did a great job. Few scenes in first half are unnecessary. The plot goes to very high elevation in the beginning of second half but fells flat until climax. Second half feels lengthy and could have been more crisp.

What’s hot?

  • Ravi Teja ‘s acting and his characterization
  • Production values

What’s not?

  • Lengthy runtime
  • Slow-paced narrative in the first half

Verdict:

Tiger Nageswara Rao is a biopic on a notorious thief from Stuartpuram area that manages to engage audience in parts. Second half of the movie is a bit better than the first due to the Stuatpuram’s backstory and emotional content. Although movie has its flaws from length and entertainment standpoint, overall #TNR is a decent watch for its emotional quotient, good BGM in 2nd half, Mass Maharaj’s subtle performance. It may stand as a winner this festive season.
