The Telangana High Court on Wednesday directed the State government to file a fresh affidavit informing it about the action taken against the schools that violated the GO 46.
We know the state government of Telangana had issued GO No. 46 on April 21, 2020, asking the private schools to collect only the tuition fee because of the pandemic. However, some schools in the state violated the GO and forced students to pay more than the tuition fee.
The court asked the government to mention in the affidavit the number of schools that were derecognized and the number of show-cause notices issued for violation of the GO.
A division bench of the court, comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B Vijaysen Reddy, passed this order, while hearing the batch of petitions that were filed seeking direction to the authority of various private schools to collect tuition fee for the academic year 2020-21
The High Court bench, meanwhile, heard a contempt of court petition filed against St. Andrews High School along with the petition. Moreover, the students were not promoted to the upper classes without disclosing their test results. After hearing the above submissions, the bench posted the matter to April 23.
