Nani had a series of disasters lately, be it Krishnarjuna Yuddham, Devadas, Jersey or Gang leader…none of them gave him a respite. Jersey was appreciated and Nani’s acting got a thumbs up but that’s where the film ended.
Actually Jersey didn’t get any profits and it wasn’t on a loss either but it is definitely not a hit venture. Usually people will knock the door of the producers if the loss is above 20 percent and will ask them to return the money. If it less than 20 percent they won’t ask.
In Gang Leader’s case, Mythri Movie Makers wanted to finish the film in 25 crore but the budget shot up to 42 crores which is insane. Aniruddh took home 3 crore and the director, hero ..a little less than ten crore each. The movie was supposed to be shot in 50 days but it crossed 90 days.
Obviously as the shooting days increase, cost of production hikes and the film was left with a deficit of 7 to 8 crore after release.
