T20 World Cup may shift to UAE: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought a lot of changes to the lifestyle of the people. The virus is also causing changes in cricket venues. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Saturday said the T20 World Cup may have to be shifted from India to UAE due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Due to the COVID situation in the country, we may shift the T20 World Cup scheduled in India to UAE. We are monitoring the situation closely. The Health and safety of players are paramount for us. We will take the final call soon,” Jay Shah said.

Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League (IPL)’s 14th edition will also be wrapped up in the UAE. The mega tournament is set to start on September 19 and the final will be held on October 15.

Some reports revealed that T20 World Cup will start on October 17 in UAE and the final would be hosted on November 14.
