Legendary India cricketer and commentator Sunil Gavaskar has come under the radar of netizens for his unwarranted comment on Rajasthan Royals cricketer Shimron Hetmyer and his wife.
The veteran cricketer passed an unpleasant comment on Rajasthan Royals’ player during the Chennai Super Kings vs RR IPL match at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Friday.
For the unversed, Hetmyer had left the RR bubble and went to Guyana to be with his wife, who was pregnant with their first child. Hetmyer was blessed with a baby on May 10.
After spending a few days with his wife and newborn, Hetmyer returned to India and joined the Royals. He came to bat for the Royals in their last fixture against Dhoni’s team. It was then that Gavaskar, in commentary, said: “Hetmyer’s wife delivered, will Hetmyer deliver for the Royals now?”
Therefore, Gavaskar’s remark did not go down well with cricket fans on social media.
