The Andhra Pradesh government headed by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has changed the name of the mid-day meal in AP Govt schools into Jagananna Gorumudda Scheme to provide nutritious food to school children all over the state.
However, there have been complaints about the quality of food that is being served to students in schools. Now, a student found worms in peanut chikki at BVR ZP High School in Prathipadu, Guntur district.
The school management handed out two packets of peanuts chikki on Monday. These were given for five months from September last year to January 2021 for 660 students. The students took them home and examined them and found worms crawling in the packets.
When the packing date was checked, it had January 16, 2021, on the packet and its expiry date is 60 days since packing. The manufacturers say that they should be used by March 16. Parents of students are outraged over the distribution of expired food to students.
