After Corona Virus took over the world, India arranged special flights from various nations to bring back the nationals to the country. Initially, Indian Government didn’t charge money for this sort of an arrangement but as time passed by and financials turned critical for the nation, Indian Government started charging nominal prices for the tickets.
US Government considered this approach of Indian special flights charging prices to be an “Unfair Practice”. They stated that the Indian Government is not allowing US airlines to enter the Indian territory considering the Covid-19 situation. Meanwhile India is arranging Air India special flights, selling tickets to the customers. This is termed as a monopoly kind of situation and the US Government mentioned it to be a violation for the treaty governing aviation.
Department of Transportation, USA further mentioned that Indian airlines should apply for authorization before scheduling the flights. This rule came after US applied restrictions on Chinese airlines.
