If Megastar Chiranjeevi looked dapper in his suits, radiated exactly as freedom fighter in the magnum opus and periodic film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, then the credit goes to Mega daughter Sushmita Konidela.
Designing for a period film that is supposed to have a pan-India appeal is not easy. But Sushmita aced it perfectly with her designing skills in Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. As the release date is approaching fastly, the Sye Raa team is promoting the film by interacting with the media.
So, as part of the film promotions, the film’s costume designer Sushmitha Konidela shared her experience with her dad Megastar, Big B and shared her memories on the sets of Sye Raa. We have narrowed down Sushmitha’s experience about costume designing and styling for Sye Raa. Read on:

Sushmitha said if Megastar rejects anything related to styling or costumes on the sets, Ram Charan used to request her to talk and Comprise dad. Sushmita stated that sometimes, they both succeeded in comprising Megastar and few times they failed to comprise him.

Whenever dad should wear a new costume for the film, I faced a lot of tension. There will be many questions in my mind. Whether the costume will be liked by dad or not? Will he like the costume color or not? Will he feel comfortable in the costume or not? Finally, there will be a lot of tension about his makeup as well.
Working with senior star heroes is a big task. But, Big B always used to be very jovial on the sets and he listens to songs always. The best thing he liked about my work is the sindhur(Tilakam) on his forehand. If he observes any tension in my face, Big B used to call me to keep that sindhur on the forehand. That means he is giving positive vibes, which helped me to relieve my tension. He is simply superb.

The best compliment. One day dad said to me that designing costumes for historical drama is a tough job, but you did it really well. In fact, your costumes helped actors to get into the skin of the characters very easily. Tammanah also complimented the same thing.

So far I did styling for love stories. But now for the first time, I designed costumes for a period flick like Sye Raa. It is a very tough job as we don’t have any proofs like pics or novels to design the costumes in the same way. That’s why it took 9 months for research and director Surendar Reddy’s research also helped me a lot.

I did 100% as a mom, wife and costume designer because of my husband. He supported me very well and motivated me to work hard. Sushmitha said that she successfully completed this project with the help of her husband only.
Meanwhile, the pre-release event of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy will be held today at LB Stadium, Hyderabad. Pawan Kalyan will be gracing the event.
