It’s a decade, the former Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajashekar Reddy passed away. So, in a recent interview, the legendary leader’s wife Vijayamma recollected a few of the issues that took place after the death of YSR.
Vijayamma revealed that in the initial days after YSR’s death, Jagan planned to conduct “Odhaarpu Yatra”, to console the people of the state, through the public meetings. But he was denied permission by the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
“He was not even given any appointment from the Centre, even after the repeated requests and trials by Jagan. He was also ready to give away all the 41 MPs and forgo his own MP position, but Sonia, still rejected the request. It was then Jagan had come out of Congress and establish his own political party called YSRCP,” Vijayamma said.
She further added that both Sonia and TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu vigorously tried to stop Jagan’s growth in politics. “But Jagan always tells me that we believe in god, and he will do the right justice. His belief finally came true and he is able to become the Chief Minister,” Vijayamma concluded.
Except for campaigning for the YSRCP during the elections, Vijayamma never really comes forward to speak with the media. But the legendary leader’s wife opening up about the controversial issues of this sort, that too in a non-election moment, is surely the strength given by Jagan, in the position of the Chief Minister. Isn’t it?
