If anyone around us face any sexual harassment, we would head straight to the police or else to media if it includes some influential names. But what if those soliciting acts happen in the media itself? Who reports it to the people? The one who commits those heinous things? We doubt so.
The head of news channel TV9 Bharatvarsh’s output division in Noida Ajay Azad has been accused by two women of sexual harassment. Both women filed a complaint within two days of each other this month.
“I am told there are at least 3-4 female trainees who had been sexually harassed by SENIORS/EDITORS of recently launched HINDI NEWS CHANNEL & these PREDATORS are asking for Sexual favors. Come on BRAVE GIRLS !! You need to speak up for yourselves,” wrote the infamous journalist Vinod Kapri on his twitter wall.
The woman said that they waited this long in the wake of the reputation of the company and the journalism values and their own respect. But Ajay took advantage of their silence and intimidated them more that made them burst out eventually.
TV9, meanwhile, has reacted saying that the complaints were immediately committed to the Internal Committee (IC) as per guidelines and that Ajay has been sent on leave for the duration of the inquiry.
According to the latest updates on Friday afternoon, Ajay Azad tendered his resignation to TV9 Bharatvarsh, which the channel accepted. He no longer works there.
