Senior actress Kishori Ballal breathed her last at a private hospital in Bengaluru today. She was suffering from age-related ailments.
In an illustrious career spanning for close to six decades, Kishori Ballal featured in over 75 films in supporting roles. She made her Sandalwood debut with the movie ‘Evalentha Hendthi’ in the year 1960.
She played the role of Kaveriamma in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Swades. Kahi, Aasra, Naani, Ring Road, Carry on Maratha, Aakramana, Galaate. Aiyaa, Kempe Gowda, Akka Thangi and Sparsha are among the many films that she had acted.
Born in Dakshina Kannada district, she married Bharatanatyam dancer N Sripathi Ballal.
Celebrities have taken to social media following the death of Kishori Ballal and expressed their condolences.
Swades director Ashutosh Gowariker also took to Twitter to share his condolences and wrote, “You will be remembered for your generously kind, warm and affable persona. And your unforgettable performance as Kaveriamma in Swades. You will surely be missed”
Punith Rajkumar tweeted, “Veteran artist Kishori Ballal amma is no more, RIP.”
