It is known that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has recommended that Rs 50,000 be provided to the family of those who died of Covid-19.
The Centre informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday that ex gratia will also be given to those involved in relief operations or associated in preparedness activities.
Now, the Supreme Court has congratulated the Centre for providing coverage and death certificates to kin of people who have died because of Covid-19. Speaking about the same, the apex Court said that India has taken steps that no other country has taken.
“Today we are very happy. At least they are giving some compensation to wipe out the tears of those who have suffered,” Justice MR Shah said.
“We also know that financial constraints are always there. Governments have to run other projects also, which is a duty they are fulfilling too. Despite so many problems of overpopulation and financial constraints, a judicial notice has been taken. What India has done, no other country would have done,” Justice MR Shah said.
