Rakshit Shetty is one of the most popular, promising, and talented actors in Kannada right now, who never backs away when it comes to presenting audiences with new kinds of movies. He has now come up with Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati, a unique love story, which has been released today. Let’s see how the film has turned out to be.
Story:
Manu and Priya are a couple in love, living together in Bengaluru. While their love unites them, they are two completely different people who have different ideologies when it comes to life. Priya is happy as she is, with Manu, and wants to spend the rest of her life just singing and living with Manu. Manu aspires to be rich and wants a luxurious life. Their lives are turned upside down when Manu is imprisoned. Why is he imprisoned and what happens next forms the rest of the story.
On-Screen Performances:
Rakshit Shetty is an accomplished actor and has managed to entertain audiences with his varied performances in different films. He once again manages to get his character in this film right and gives a memorable performance.
Rukmini as Priya is also quite good in her role, and gives a dramatic and memorable performance, taking the audience with her through her every emotion.
The supporting cast is good with what they have been given, but they do not have much scope, as the entire story revolves around the leads.
Off-Screen Talents:
Sapta Saagaralu Daati is not a particularly fresh concept, with the concept depicted in the film having been previously explored to various degrees in many films, including the famous Roja, by Maniratnam. Of course, there are some fresh factors added to this film, but it is a tried and tested formula. Many aspects are shown in a relatable way, but the major drawback of the film is its pacing and narrative choices. The film looks very artistic and takes a lot of time to establish things, which will not go well with the audience.
The background music suits the film well, and so does the cinematography, which is very artistic. The production values are good, but the editing could have been better.
Plus Points:
- Performances
- Emotional scenes
Minus Points:
- Pacing
- Routine concept
Verdict: Sapta Saagaralu Daati is a film that doesn’t have anything new to offer, and its slow pacing can be tiring for the audience after a certain point. The film can be watched once at best if you’re into love stories.
