NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede, who is leading the investigation into the Aryan Khan drugs case, has been removed from the investigating team.
The investigation officer has been facing a slew of allegations like bribery, extortion, blackmailing and running the agency with a private army.
As per reports, Wankhede demanded Rs 8 crore in the Bollywood actor’s son’s probe. He has been at the centre of a major controversy after allegations from Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik.
An SIT to be led by senior cop Sanjay Singh, will take over the Aryan case as well as four others that were being handled by Sameer Wankhede.
For the unversed, Mr Wankhede was the person who made sure that the World Cup trophy in 2011 was released from the Mumbai airport after paying duty.
