Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine, which was developed by Russia, is already being used in over 50 countries across the world. The vaccine is among the four Coronavirus vaccines that have obtained an emergency use authorisation from India’s drug controller.
The latest news is that the Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine is 83 percent effective against the Delta variant of the virus, the Russian health minister said on Wednesday. He added that the vaccine’s efficacy against a severe course of Covid-19 surpasses 95 percent.
“Today, the Sputnik V vaccine shows the most effective results on prevention, on fighting the Delta strain. The latest results demonstrate that the effectiveness is about 83 per cent. This is already the Russian data, given to us courtesy of our clinical colleagues,” Mikhail Murashko said.
Besides this, developers of Sputnik V claimed that the vaccine is effective against all new strains of Covid-19. Interestingly, August 11 (today) also marks the first anniversary of vaccine registration in Russia when it became the first certified vaccine against the deadly virus worldwide.
