Russian President Vladimir Putin, who needs no introduction, will visit India on December 6 for the annual bilateral summit.
The Ministry of External Affairs’ official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi on Friday announced the details of the summit and it is expected that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Putin will discuss the areas of defence, trade and energy.
Simultaneously, both the countries will also hold a 2+2 summit that will see the External Affairs and Defence ministers of Russia and India meet their counterparts.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu will hold talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The last India-Russia annual summit took place in 2019 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Vladivostok city in Russia. The annual summit could not take place in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
