The second day of the first Test between India and New Zealand ended with the visitors scoring 129 for zero wickets. After India concluded their innings by scoring 345, the Kiwis openers showed how runs can be scored if played patiently.
New Zealand openers Tom Latham and Will Young registered 50 and 75 runs respectively and stood firm for the third-day game. While the hosts dominated Day 1, the visitors showed their upper hand on Day 2.
Coming to innings by Indian batsmen, Shreyas Iyer registered a ton on his debut game while Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja scored half-centuries for India. Ashwin, Rahane and Pujara helped to move the scoreboard. Tim Southee scalped 5 wickets while Jamieson and Ajaz Patel took 3 and 2 wickets, respectively.
