It is known that the Central government has allowed the liquor sale from May 4th in all the green and orange zones in the country to boost up the economy which is at its lowest in the past 10 years.
In Andhra Pradesh, Jagan’s government allowed the liquor sale in Red Zones too and only the areas with containment clusters aren’t allowed to sell booze. Finally, the alcoholics made most of the day and about 41 crores of liquor was sold in Andhra Pradesh yesterday.
On the other side, this liquor sale has already started to show its adverse effects and has taken away two lives in day one. A man’s wife and daughter in a family have committed suicide after he got drunk and beaten them at Palamaneru in Chittoor district.
Actually, Chittoor district is a red zone area but as per orders issued by Jagan’s government, the liquor was sold there and the culprit had an argument with wife and even hitting her once for objecting his drinking.
It is very pathetic to see when the man explained how his urge for drinking killed his wife and daughter. The man says it’s been one and a half months since he drank and he could not stay sober even after the availability of liquor. He brought the alcohol home, got drunk, and the wife who fought with him against it committed suicide after he hit her.
The man named Chokkalingam denied hitting his daughter in the altercation but agreed that he and his habit of drinking is the reason behind his wife and daughter’s suicide. It looks like this is just a start in the state of Andhra Pradesh for re-opening the liquor shops, as it could easily lead to more domestic violence.
