Kabir Khan’s most anticipated biographical sports saga ’83, which was expected to hit the screens on April 10 got postponed due to the global pandemic. The film stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath, Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar and others in key roles. The posters of this film has grabbed the eye balls of everybody and Ranveer Singh’s look of Kapil Dev has dazzled us remarkably.
His co-star, Saqib Saleem who was quite impressed with Ranveer’s demeanour confessed in an interview, “Ranveer is a ‘jaaneman aadmi’. He opens his arms with love to meet everyone. He plays Captain Kapil Dev, I play VC Mohinder Amarnath. In this way, I grabbed the opportunity to shoot a lot with him. He is an extremely sacrificial and selfless guy who helps his co actors. On the off chance if I would need to hang out daily with someone, I would spend time with Ranveer. ‘Uske paas itne baatein and kahaniyaan hoti hai na, pura din aram se nikal jayega’
Regardless of being a cricketer, it was hard for Saqib Saleem to get into the skin of the character, “I was a cricketer for my entire life. I played state level cricket for Delhi under 19 and played for Jammu and Kashmir for a year. It thouroughly helped me prepare to play cricket in a specific style. I used to continue reminding myself ‘Jimmy’ ‘Jimmy’ in my mind. So I could become Jimmy Amarnath and not Saqib Saleem when playing cricket.”
Discussing about producer Kabir Khan, Saqib told that Kabir khan is one of the most pleasant folks whom he has met and expressed great deal of interest in working with him. Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Saqib Saleem and Tahir Raj Bhasin starring in ‘83’ is directed by film maker Kabir Khan.
