It is known that Cabinet last week approved the government’s proposal to scrap the three controversial farm laws that were introduced last year. After receiving a lot of opposition from farmers across the country, the parliament on Monday passed the repeal of the three farm laws in rushed voice votes in both houses.
President Ram Nath Kovind today signed the bill to cancel three farm laws. The three laws were the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, The Farmers’ (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act.
Farmers in massive numbers from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan have been camping outside Delhi since November 2020, demanding that the contentious laws be withdrawn.
