While addressing on the occasion of 74th Independence Day today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that three coronavirus vaccines are at different trial stages of testing and assured that once the approval is given, the government will make it available for every Indian.
PM Modi added further that National Digital Health Mission is being initiated to improve the health care system, and said every citizen would be provided with a health ID.
“Three vaccines are in various stages of testing. When drug controlling authority give a nod, we are ready with a plan for mass production and distribution. We have a precise road map ready for the same in making it available to every citizen in least amount of time”, the Prime Minister said.
India is among several countries in the cut throat competition which is ready to mass produce a vaccine against the virus infection. Bharat Biotech International, a prominent vaccine maker, received regulatory approval to start human clinical trials from the Indian Council of Medical Research. Zydus Cadila and Serum Institute of India are also jointly testing vaccines to produce in bulk at economical cost.
