Touted to be a satirical film based on controversial director Ram Gopal Varma, ‘Parannageevi’ is available for streaming on Shreya ET from today. The teasers and posters raked up interest and built good buzz for the film. Here’s our review of the film.
Story:
RGV(Shakalaka Shankar) lures budding actreesses to satisfy his personal needs by promising movie offers to them. One day, he meets a film producer (Kathi Mahesh) who aspires to make film with him. But instead of coming up with an original story, RGV wishes to make films on sensitive topics like Miryalaguda honour killing, and Pawan Kalyan’s political career. Also, he tries to exploit women one way or the other. This leaves the producer infuriated and he decides to teach RGV a valuable lesson. The rest of the story unveils the way in which the producer, RGV’s personal assistant, and a few others, who happen to be Pawan Kalyan’s fans, teach RGV a moral lesson.
How about on-screen performances?
Shakalaka Shankar played the role of RGV and his impersonation is okayish. He partly succeeded in getting the mannerisms right but overdoes the imitation act at times. Kathi Mahesh is seen as a film producer and he is alright in his role.
Lahari Shari gets a brief role and she does a decent job. The rest of the star cast perform to the best of their capabilities.
How about off-screen talents?
Bigg Boss fame, Nutan Naidu turned director with this film and he demonstrates his love and admiration for Pawan Kalyan. The film is a mockery of Ram Gopal Varma and predominantly accuses the controversial director of misconduct.
The songs in the film are tedious. The background score is apt. There is nothing much to speak about the other technical prospects of the film.
What’s hot?
Satires on RGV
Witty dialogues
What’s not?
Repetitive sequences
Monotonous screenplay
Verdict:
‘Parannageevi’ might leave a few Pawan Kalyan’s fans excited as the climax highlights Pawan’s political ideologies. To say the least, the film is a token of retaliation from Pawan Kalyan’s fans to RGV who has been trying to irk Pawan Kalyan with ‘Power Star’ film. ‘Parannageevi’ serves its sole purpose in a partly effective manner. The song which comes in the climax will go well with Pawan Kalyan’s fans and ardent followers.
Watch or not?
You might give this satirical film a try but keep your expectations in check. ‘Parannageevi’ is Pawan Kalyan fans’ revenge on RGV.
