Whether former members of the TDP or not, a lot of the YSRCP’s members are quitting the party and shifting their alliance to the TDP in recent times. The latest to join this list is senior YSRCP leader and former MLA from Kamalapuram in YSR Kadapa district, G Veerashiva Reddy. He has decided to resign from the YSRCP, and join the TDP. He met with TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh on Wednesday and felicitated the latter with a shawl. Speaking to the media, he said that he would be joining the TDP at the right time, very soon.
Reddy said that he’s not interested in being named the candidate for Kamalapuram, and said that he instead wants to invest his time and energy in making sure that the TDP’s candidate from Kamalapuram wins. Reddy was once very close with ex-MP M V Mysoora Reddy and had been with the Congress party for a long time. He even won the assembly elections thrice from Kamalapuram.
After Andhra Pradesh was divided into two, he was associated with former Chief Minister and Jai Samaikyandhra Party president, N Kiran Kumar Reddy for some time, but later joined the TDP. He said that his main aim was to defeat the YSRCP back then. However, by 2019, he shifted to the YSRCP and helped the YSRCP’s Kamalapuram candidate win. Now, he’s back to the TDP, after reportedly feeling that he’s been ignored by the YSRCP after joining the party.
