Much to the shock of many, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is planning to return back lands to the farmers, which was taken by the previous government under the land acquisition act, for the construction of the capital city.
After forming the YSRCP government in the state, Jagan never opened up about the capital city construction. Surprisingly, even Governor Narasimhan, in his assembly speech, has maintained mum about the issue.
This led to several speculations among the political circles that the new CM is going to completely neglect Amaravati construction. But finally, the state government has given its version on the capital city development.

The sources reveal that Jagan is keen to bring down the burden on the state government as it is lacking enough funds. Regarding this, he is planning to construct only the government buildings like Secretariat, assembly, and residential quarters for ministers, MLAs etc, in Amaravati.
“The land required for such operational capital region will be kept and the rest will be returned to the farmers,” the sources revealed.
There were several criticisms in the past, when the previous government acquired land from the farmers for the construction of capital. In that case, as Jagan is willing to give back the land, is he going to win the hearts of all such farmers? Let’s see.
