Andhra Pradesh SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is making sure that there will be no sort of clashes or disturbances in the upcoming local elections of the state of Andhra Pradesh. For this purpose, the SEC is taking several steps, the latest of which has shocked everyone.
Nimmgadda wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, Adutyanath Das, asking him to bring into and strictly put into effect a Model Code of Conduct. In his letter, Nimmagadda has also asked the CS to make sure that no MLA, Minister, MP, or any other political member uses government vehicles until the elections are over.
Nimmagdada has clearly stated that only the security forces are allowed to use government vehicles during the elections, and that no one else can use any government vehicles or government offices. Ministers and advisors to the government have been prohibited from using government vehicles and assistants provided to them by the government as well.
YSRP speokesperson Ambati Rambabu reacted strongly to the SEC’s letter, and questioned why the SEC is implementing such rules specifically to the ruling party, when the local elections have nothing to do with the political parties of the state, in the first place.
