The film industry hit rock bottom as a result of Corona pandemic-imposed lockdown. The theatrical releases have been shut abruptly causing distress among the film makers. But few of them embraced the new normal and began releasing films on OTT. The viewership on OTT platforms appears to have grown massively during the lockdown.
However, there are few celebs whose films have still not made it to he digital platform directly and this include Salman Khan. In an interview when asked about the super hero movies, ace actor Naseeruddin Shah feels dubious that Salman’s fan base and his films might not be the same henceforth.
He stated, “It will be interesting to see the reaction of the audience to a Salman Khan film, the audience that whistles and claps and throws coins at the screen and dances in the aisles… What’ll be their reaction when they watch his movie at home, alone, or with their children? Will they behave in the same way? I doubt it.”
The actor insightfully said, This lockdown has inspired so many young filmmakers to attempt compelling, novel subjects without worrying about a producer sitting on their heads pressuring about who is the hero, what songs to be done, and other demands required for the films.
He insinuated that the so called fan base, esxaggertaed hungama, box office collections etc will fade soon. With the advent of technology, shelling out mammoth budgets for films will become a thing of past, he added further.
